Newcastle Rowing Club 25th Anniversary Celebration
Newcastle Rowing Club has experienced a rollercoaster ride of emotion over 25 years.
The hope that came with starting the club back in 1992, the hardship of losing their shed in 2007 in the destructive ”Pasha Bulker” Storm…
The happiness of relocating to their permanent purpose built boat shed in the heart of Carrington in 2009, and the joy of attracting 2016 Olympic Gold Medallist Kim Brennan AM to their 25th Anniversary celebration has to be to the cherry on top!
Newcastle Rowing Club’s past and present members and family, along with sponsors, attended the event held at Harbourview Function Centre on 9 September 2017 – the exact day 25 years ago the club was formed!
The night gave the guests a chance to reflect on the last 25 years through tributes by past and current members, poetry, photo and video montages, and a special cake cutting ceremony with life members, John McLeod and Peter Boyce doing the honours. The evening culminated in a Q & A with Kim Brennan AM hosted by Ben Homer.
Orica, the Major Event Sponsor, has provided enormous support to the club since its move to Carrington in 2009.
The Port of Newcastle, YN Energy, along with the National Australia Bank are also thanked for their support not only for the event, but their continued support over many years.
Thank you to Rowing NSW, Oasis Media and Hudsons Lawyers, who also supported our event.
We look forward to the next 25 years!
